SCinterface is a high-performance middleware for smart cards and tokens. This robust and platform-independent solution supports more than 100 different chip types, operating systems, and profiles. SCinterface uses standardized protocols and state-of-the-art cryptographic methods, including the RSA and ECC algorithms recommended by IT security authorities worldwide. This simplifies the use of credentials on a wide range of security devices.
Yes, SCinterface supports seal tokens and signature cards that comply with the EU Signature Regulation (eIDAS).
SCinterface can be operated on Windows, macOS and Linux. This means that the user can use the same smartcard or the same token on different platforms.
SCinterface supports over 100 smart card types and profiles, regardless of form factor. These include cards from CardOS, Infineon, NXP, Gemalto, G&D, Siemens, and Austria Card.
SCinterface functions can be extended by plug-ins. The standard package includes plug-ins that, for example, inform the user about expiring certificates or automatically import root certificates from a smartcard. SCinterface also offers extensions, which are available as convenience kits, for example, SCinterface Virtual Smartcard, SCinterface Remote Smartcard and secure PIN caching (SCinterface Cache).
SCinterface supports the Microsoft Virtual Smart Card (MS VSC), including the associated initialization and personalization processes. This means that SCinterface enables the use of existing infrastructures that use the MS VSC and allows for a smooth migration, e.g., to the SCinterface Virtual Smart Card.
Microsoft is focusing on certificate-less authentication techniques and has therefore announced that it will no longer support the Microsoft Virtual Smart Card in the future. Eviden offers SCinterface VSC, an innovative VSC solution that was developed as an extension of SCinterface. It can not only completely replace the Microsoft Virtual Smart Card, but also offers a range of additional features, such as higher key lengths, secure key injection, etc.
SCinterface integrates with any common application program (e.g., Acrobat, EDGE, Safari, Firefox, Outlook, VPN client, etc.) given that it supports all relevant crypto interfaces (PKCS#11, MS-CAPI, CNG and CTK).
Why am I unable to access the D-Trust card? Why does the SCinterface register tool display the card as “unknown” during initialization?
The D-Trust Assist Tool uses Exclusive-PCSC-Access, which means that during the card initialization process, simultaneous use of other smart card access tools is not possible. After the successful initialization of the Card, the D-Trust Assist Tool must be stopped. Now you can use the card with SCinterface as usual.
